Vera Mahajan visit, 13 - 22 April 2010

Hootoksi Tyabji, Shah Alam, April 2010

Vera and I first met each other at Presentation Convent Kodaikanal, a boarding school in the Nilgiri Hills where both of us had been packed off to. We were only 9 years old then, but we both remembered those early days. We were in the same class till we graduated from High School in 1968 and went our own ways.

We continued to keep in touch (sort of) but those were the days without Internet and cell phones so many years would pass us by and many important events took place without our knowing. All of that was put right when Vee visited us here in KL for 10 days.

In addition to endless chatter, we went to Taman Negara (the rainforest national park), shopped till we dropped (quite literally) and ate both Chinese and Malay specialities in out-of-the-way food stalls.

For me it was great to catch up and to find that little girl still lurking behind the older version before me. What makes childhood friends so special?
